"treasure island" is really a good book, it tells me to be tactful and brave, to encounter the temptation not to move, to meet the difficulties head on...

飘的英语读后感篇2

when henry david thoreau (1817-1862) set out for the walden woods in massachusetts on independence day, 1845, the united states was still a young nation. the book that he published in 1854, walden, is based upon his experiences as a youth.

the young don’t yet know how to live. they must experience the world and reflect upon their experiences in order to gain knowledge. the same is true of a nation. the book’s status as a classic shows that what thoreau had to say echoed in the souls of other americans.

and it’s not just his fellow countrymen who relate to the story – walden is read all over the world. if it can be enjoyed by non-americans, this is because thoreau set out to find what the basic principles of life are, no matter where we’re from. we may not agree with his answers, but we identify with his quest for meaning. this is probably why walden is still loved by so many people, even 200 years after thoreau’s birth, the anniversary of which will fall on july 12 this year.

thoreau looked around him and saw the beginnings of industrialism and found it ugly. he disliked the factories and he disliked what they produced. he objected to consumerism, suspectingthat it took people away from their real concerns. men and women lived lives of “quiet desperation” because modern life was leading them astray.

in walden, he would find what he hoped was really “essential”. as he writes near the beginning of the book, “i went to the woods because i wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if i could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when i came to die, discover that i had not lived.” this is the major theme of the book. he hoped nature could be his guide and his teacher.

we should not think that thoreau was simply withdrawing from the world. he didn’t go to walden only to stare into the surface of lakes and observe wildlife. he went there because he was disgusted by modern civilization. ironically, some of the people that thoreau met around walden wanted the opposite to him. if he wanted to escape from civilization, they wanted to get out of nature and leave it for a more exciting existence in the town.

thoreau was greatly influenced by ancient greece and rome. and in a sense, the philosophy of the book he wrote is very classical. socrates once said that the “unexamined life is not worth living”, but what was thoreau doing in his cabin in the woods if not examining life? not only was he examining his own, but the life of america and its people in general.

飘的英语读后感篇3

david copperfield" sounds like a person's name, but how can it be a book? i did see this book today, and i benefited from reading it.

the main character, david copperfield, lost his father at birth and his mother remarried to a despicable man who was extremely harsh to david and his mother. after his mother's death, he first went to mr. micawber's house and later to his aunt's house, and his fate was tumultuous and his life was turbulent. after experiencing various sorrows and joys, david finally gets together with his beloved ennis, and the book ends in a happy atmosphere.

the main character david can not sink in the hardships and twists because of his positive spirit and persistent efforts. just like the main character santiago in the old man and the sea, he fights bravely, not giving up in the constant attacks of sharks, but fighting back more forcefully. faced with the hardships of life, david did not despair, "the courage to choke the throat of fate" (beethoven's words), and his optimistic attitude all the time influenced us.

in the future, we should have a positive spirit, optimism and perseverance in dealing with people, so that we can really succeed.

飘的英语读后感篇5

the story took place in 1947.the banker andy, had misjudgment committed the crime of murder which suddenly pushed andy’s life to a world of hell.he was sentenced to life imprisonment, sent to shawshank . however, andy did not give up hope successfully escaped from prison and gave free.

the story may sound simple, but the truth behind the words is remarkable. when i heard the name of the film first time, i considered the shawshank to be a man’ name, but in face it is a jail——a hell in the world. not only for the inhumanity of the jailors——they behaved rudely but also for the jail gnawed at people’ heart by keeping them waiting and waiting as life passed. it seemed that only those utterly worthless people who gave up everything could survive. that’s where the story happened.

the part impressed me most is when andy got out of the jail. he extended his arms in front of him in the heavy rain as if he were welcoming the fresh air and the freedom. at that moment, i saw the faith win the darkness, discharging light dazzling the eyes in the dark blue sky. under the light, i could feel my recreant innermost being shivering as his voice said: “remember, hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things and no good thing ever dies!”

that’s why i like this film: it encourages people to fight to preserve the dignity of human beings, to appreciate the beauty of life, and the most important is to keep hope forever. everyone is the same. the only difference is whether busy living or busy dying.

飘的英语读后感篇6

fortress besieged is indeed a good book, read it every time i will have a new feeling, a good book does make me in the busy work, study and life there is a piece of leisure time, let oneself alleviate fatigue, make the person be free on the mind.

great what great? because, you is kneeling to see their, you kneeling, others naturally tall than you, because you just want to when a draw is not a creator, so the author stood in a certain height, overlooking the life openly revealed the weakness of human nature, the authenticity of life, and lived to tear apart and show, give a person with deep shock and enlightenment ideas.

as a student, marriage is not i should go to the topic of discussion. fortress besieged is telling us what is the real life. everyone from the day began to pursue his sensible think the ideal love, when it comes to getting the and are looking for an ideal marriage for love, but few people really do it all. in fact, life has taught us a rule: marriage is random! marriage is like a siege, some people want to go in, inside people want to come out! when love is eroded by years, become a part of life, the love has been sublimated to the family.

飘的英语读后感篇7

as a fact, i found out that this book, the code talker was rather easy for me to read, either about the comprehensions, or about the vocabularies. i suggest that people, who had lower english skills, were able to read this book. overall, although i seemed to show passion in it, i found that there were no clear stories, and most of them seemed a bit even boring to me.

on the background of world war ii, the author used the first person pronoun to write this book. the major plot was about the navajos, a large tribe of indians in america, chosen to join the marines, to defeat the japanese. the protagonist, kii yazhi (pretty strange name, isn’t it?), was born in an ordinary navajo family. at the year of seven, yazhi began to realize that his parents were determined to send him to school. at that time, navajos were being despised by the americans, and the americans believed that the navajos were taking lower levels than they did. later on, the americans could not stand the uneducated navajos, so they set up schools for them. most of the navajos were finishing their courses at the end of the elementary school. then they were already graduated, however, because yazhi did well in the courses, and he was always the best in every way, he was allowed to enter the middle school.

you know, as i said above, few of the navajos were permitted to go on after elementary school, and because yazhi was entering middle school, that meant he could do something different…

before, when yazhi was in the elementary school, he showed affection in geography, and he kept doing very well in the exams. when he was in the middle school, he was also the best. although it was my own opinion, i suggested that this helped yazhi to enter the marines, and affected him totally.

a matter of time passed, and yazhi know that the school was recruiting members for the marines. however, he was only in the year of fifteen, and the deadline was seventeen. still, at that time, none of the navajos had any birth certificates, and the only proves were from the parents’ mouth (maybe the policy was unsuccessful). so then, yazhi went for his parents, and asked if they could say he was seventeen years old, when the committee came and asked for his age. beyond the expectations of yazhi, his parents refused to do so, and asking him to wait till another year came. they claimed that he was still too young to fight for his country.

finally, the day came for yazhi to depart. of course, his parents were unwilling to do so, but they agreed with yazhi. there was a ceremony, and it started from the morning, and ended in midnight. yazhi was excited, but also a bit fearful about his future.

(i chose to abbreviate the fights, mainly because of that i found it not appealing, and i hope you can forgive me).

when finally yazhi arrived back home, he found out that he was still being treated the same as years before- being despised by white people. however, he met with his relatives again, and he was happy.
